Hellfire is an expansion pack for Diablo (W32). It adds a new class (the monk), two new dungeons (the Festering Nest and Demon Crypt), and an assortment of new monsters, spells, and items. The story involves a sorcerer who accidentally summons the demon Na-Krul whose denizens wreak additional havoc on the town of Tristram.

The crypt gets pretty nasty.

Music

Each of the two new dungeons gets their own ambient background music. Matt Uelmen explained that he originally composed the two tracks for Diablo, but didn't feel they were good enough for the game so they were left out. However, they were salvaged from the cutting room floor to be used in Hellfire. Uelmen explains:

Yes, Hellfire got a couple of my leftovers, one with a fake, rubbery fretless bass sound in the lead. They weren't great tracks.

Uelmen also notes that the Hellfire developers (most likely Craig Utterback) made slight additions to the intro of the tracks, (like the buzzing at the beginning of the Hive track).

They may have added a bit of ambient sfx on the fronts of the tunes, like the first 20 secs or so.

Although the game credits Craig Utterback for sound, there are no credits for music. Matt Uelmen was contacted and acknowledged that he did indeed compose the music.

The music of Hellfire is stored as WAV audio in the compressed HFMusic.mpq file. It was extracted with Ladik's MPQ Editor and then encoded into Vorbis. Since WAV files sound the same as the OGG recording, they are not available for download.
