LEGO Racers

Nofsinger regarding LEGO Racers (N64):

At the time I was mainly using hardware sequencers. Later in the project I stepped up to Opcode Vision. Recording was done on Sound Forge which was on v1 and shipped on Floppies.

He also said this about the instrument sampling:

Well, the short answer is I made them.

As I recall they were mostly synthesized on outboard gear and then sampled as very, very short sounds which I looped to make longer and made instrument banks of them on the N64 Dev hardware which included information for each sound, like attack, decay, sustain, and release. The drums were primarily sounds sampled from vintage drum machines.

The process was very time consuming but I really enjoyed it. It was a lot like making my own wave station based instrument.
