Song pages house information specific to a single song from a game. Details about each section and when you should use them can be read below.

Template

Song pages must use the Infobox Song template. The minimum required fields for include Title, Composer, Released, and TitleOrigin. If the song is only used in a single game, you should also try to include Listen, Arranger, Programmer, Length, Format, Game, and Loops.

For information on how to use the Infobox Song template, visit its page.

General

The general section appears at the top of the page an doesn't have a header. This section should include the song's title, who composer the song, the game it was originally composed for and when it was released, and where in the game the song is usually played.

If other songs use the same title as this song, the first line of the general section should link to the song's disambiguation page with a notice like this:

This page is for The Legend of Zelda (NES) song, for more titles see Title BGM.

Title

The title section should include information about the origin of the title, who named the song, all official translations of the title, alternate titles from officially released soundtracks, and any popular unofficial titles (use sparingly). If the song doesn't have an official title and was just named after where in the game it's played, you may forgo this section and just mention it in the general section.

Composition

This section should include details about the composition process of the song including when the composer wrote the song, how they composed the song (like on which instruments), what inspired them to write it, and how they converted the song to the gaming hardware. You should also include the people who helped them arrange and program the song.

This section should also include the overall musical structure of the song. Try to use traditional musical terms if possible.

If the song was only released in a single game, include any technical information about the song in this section, otherwise list technical information in the Games section.

Games

The Games section is only needed if the song was included in multiple games or alternate platforms. The games section should start with a table listing all games where the song can be heard like this example:

Released

Game

Arranger

Length

Format

Listen

1987-07-?? The Legend of Zelda (NES) Koji Kondo 1:19.89 NSF

For each game in which the song is heard, there must be a sub-header for the game. The sub-header should include any differences to the song compared to the original, and all technical information about the song including the length of the song, whether it loops in the game, what formats it has been ripped to and which track number it is in the rip, any meta data or file names of the rip, what audio devices the song can be rendered on, and how it makes use of the devices audio channels.

Each game sub-section should also contain a screenshot from the game from every major section of the game where the song is played. For example, if a song is played during the title screen, level 4, and level 7, there should be a screenshot of the title screen, and from levels 4 and 7. Limit spoilers unless it's unavoidable (like with ending music). If the song is only played in a single game, you won't have a Games section, so place the screenshot near the bottom of the Song page so it doesn't interfere with the Infobox Song template.

Albums

The albums section is a table of each album on which the song has been released, and information about it. For example:

Released

Album

Version

Title

Track

1994-06-22 The Legend of Zelda: Sound & Drama FDS Version タイトル (Title) 3

If the song was never released on an album, you may forgo this section.

Sheet Music

If images of sheet music have been made available, include them in this section. There is a specially made template called SheetMusic for this purpose. If different sheet music exists for different versions of the song, add the sheet music in each individual game section. See Above Ground BGM - Super Mario Bros. for an example.

Lyrics

If the song has official lyrics, include them in this section. If the lyrics are in a language other than English, include the original language as well as a translation if you can find one. See Aria di Mezzo Carattere for an example.

Links

The links section should links to other pages dedicated to this specific song, as well as videos and remixes.

Categories

There are several categories in which a song can be placed, many of which are automatically applied by various templates, but others you'll need to add manually. Some of the more common ones that must be added manually are described below. Try to add each one that applies to a song.

Category

Purpose

Songs With Lyrics Used when a song has lyrics associated with it.
Songs With Guitar Tabs Used when a song has guitar tabs on the page.
Non-Videogame Songs Add this category if the song was originally composed for something other than a videogame (movie, television show, album, etc.).
Missing Screenshot Use when a suitable screenshot has not yet been added to each game release.
Unused Songs For songs that are included in a game's files, but never actually heard in the game. Not to be confused with Unreleased Songs.
Unreleased Songs For songs that were composed for a game, but the game or the song was never released. Not to be confused with Unused Songs.
