Crono & Marle ~A Distant Promise~ sometimes translated to ~Far Off Promise~ is a simple melody played on a music box and acts as the character music for Marle. It was released on the Chrono Trigger (Original Sound Version) album, and an arranged version can be heard on the Chrono Trigger (Original Soundtrack) album.

The song is heard again during the game's ending sequence in the track Epilogue ~To Good Friends~, which begins the same, but crescendos into a much grander orchestrated song.

Title

  • English: Crono & Marle ~A Distant Promise~
  • Japanese: クロノとマール ~遠い約束~
  • Romaji: Kurono to Maru ~Toi Yakusoku~

The official Japanese title comes from Chrono Trigger: Original Sound Version, the first official soundtrack for the game. The official English title comes from Chrono Trigger: Official Soundtrack - Music from Final Fantasy Chronicles.

If you want to play guitar/bass duet with this piece, you can use this tab to do so. Play the Bb and eb lines on guitar and the other four on bass. The only change would be in the last two measures, where the guitar would play all lines as written and the bass would play an open Eb once per measure.

Tune everything down a half step and play the whole sequence twice if you intend on playing with the MIDI.
