Tsukasa Masuko programmed a sound driver in 6502 assembly machine code. Music was entered in assembler macros in DOS. The driver was also one of the few to utilize Namco's N163 expansion sound chip, and the only one to utilize all eight channels. According to Masuko, it wasn't too hard implementing the technology into his sound driver. Later versions of his sound driver used the triangle channel for percussive effects in conjunction with the noise channel, making the music sound very similar to Stephen Ruddy's.
