Akito Nakatsuka has been working with Nintendo since 1984. He has composed music for several of Nintendo's games across multiple gaming platforms. In addition to his multiple credits as a composer, he is often seen credited as a special thanks mention. His best known soundtracks are Zelda II: The Adventure of Link (NES) and Mike Tyson's Punch-Out!! (NES). He also composed the music to the Super GameBoy. During Nintendo's development for the BS games in Japan, he composed the music to a vast majority of those games.

During Nintendo's Famicom Disk System development, Akito got the chance to improve some of his previous work with the Famicom Disk System's extra sound channel, and he made great use of it. Unfortunately, Akito didn't get to compose many Disk System tunes.

Music Composition

FDS

Akito wrote a sound driver and wrote the music in 6502 assembly.

NES

Akito first used a sound engine written by Hirokazu Tanaka. Then, he ended up programming his own sound engine around 1986. Back then, assembly was the only way to make music.
